Our day of celebration is to commemorate our emancipation day. We will educate families by bringing awareness to the signigance of this momentous day. CDSS will uphold the BBQ and strawberry tradition with a BBQ cook-off and as many strawberry sodas we can provide. Live entertainment, motorcycle round-up, and antique car show are just a few of the highlights for the event. CDSS is all about civically engaging youth and their families in the positive changes they want to see within the community. What better way than bringing to light our rich history via tradition and instillation of pride and a sense of duty to the community and our planet. To donate please visit cdss-esl.org or email us at email@example.com because together no we work towards solutions we can "ALL" live with...

Juneteenth Emancipation Celebration (Website)
Champaign Public Library- Douglass Branch
504 E Grove St,
Champaign, IL 61820 USA
Juneteenth originates from events that happened on June 19, 1865 in Texas. On that day the union army reached Texas, two years after Abraham Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation, and freed the last of the slaves.
Juneteenth gives us all a great opportunity to reflect upon our nation’s past, while also celebrating the freedoms of today.
This year’s Juneteenth takes place on Saturday June 20th from 12 p.m. until 3 p.m. at the Douglass Branch Library and in Douglass Park. Last year, close to 600 people attended and we hope for an even better attendance this year.
